Abstract
Chronic venous pathology is highly prevalent in the sociohealth sector and is the direct cause of complex lesions in the lower limbs or worsens the prognosis of other injuries produced mainly by trauma.
This clinical case describes the approach of two injuries produced by the removal of an adhesive dressing in a 92-year old man who goes to the Day Center of a public mixed residence.
Once the context of chronic venous insufficiency was verified and it was evidenced that the dressings were not able to handle the exudate and the healing was not taking place in a suitable time, it was decided to apply therapeutic compression of low elasticity in addition to the wet cure.
The original lesions healed in about 30 days after starting compression therapy, but the clinical picture was lengthened 10 days longer by the appearance of a secondary phlyctena due to a bandage that had been made with crepe bandage. The approach of venous insufficiency (base pathology that had not originated the lesions, but could make them chronic) by therapeutic compression applied with low elasticity bandages, was the key factor in the resolution of this case.
