Abstract
Most Chronic venous ulcers cause pain, having a great negative impact on the person's quality of life. In recent years, topical sevoflurane has been used to treat Chronic venous ulcers, although its use has not yet been standard-ized. The aim of this review study was to synthesize and analyze the available scientific evidence on the safety and benefits of topical use of sevoflurane in chronic venous ulcers.
A bibliographic review of the scientific literature available in the main national and international databases with no date limit, in Spanish and English, has been carried out. 134 references were obtained, of which the articles that did not meet the inclusion criteria were eliminated, finally leaving 18 for their qualitative synthesis. Since sevoflurane was administered topically for the first time in 2011, numerous studies have been published demonstrating its benefits in the treatment of chronic venous ulcers, but also the safety of its use, both for the patient and for the healthcare pro-fessional. However, there are still big questions to be answered, such as the dose, frequency of use, therapeutic mar-gins or the wounds that obtain a greater benefit from the topical use of sevoflurane.
