Abstract

Introduction: User referred to the Wounds Unit of the Sanitary Assistance Management of Segovia, 65 years old, resident in a socio-sanitary institution, which presents 2 continuous post-phlebitic lesions in the external malleolar area of the left leg. With the present work we want to evaluate through a clinical case a low elasticity bandage from a cost-effective aspect in the approach of ulcers of venous etiology. Methodology: Low elasticity bandages were used to treat the lesion, together with primary dressings selected according to the evolution of the lesion. Results: Complete closure of the lesion without complications was achieved in 4 months and 14 days. The cost of the treatment was 910.68 Euros. Conclusions: The use of low elasticity therapy proves to be cost-effective.
